Two Arrests In Wolcott Copper Theft

A Wolcott man and a Prospect woman face charges after an off-duty Wolcott policeman spotted a man taking copper from a vacant house and loading it into an SUV.  Police say when confronted,  he got in the car,  and the female driver left the scene.

The officer got the SUV’s license number, and when police went to the home of 23-year-old Aferda Zekiri in Prospect,  they took her into custody.
Subsequently police took 25-year-old Hivzo Redzepagic into custody at the Wolcott Police Department.  Police say the stolen copper was recovered in Naugatuck.

Redzepagic was charged with larceny, burglary and criminal mischief.  Zekiri faces conspiracy charges.
