“I commend Governor Malloy on his proposal, which supports Connecticut workers. Across the state, many are struggling to balance the cost of living with the current minimum wage. In taking this matter into his own hands, the Governor is strengthening our economy and meeting the needs of our working class.
“By raising the minimum wage, families, women and other individuals impacted would be in a better position to reinvest in our economy, pay for their homes, feed their children and stay above the poverty line. House Democrats have been working for years to pass legislation that increases the minimum wage to $10.10, and the real effort began with the start of the 113th Congress and President Obama’s call to action during his State of the Union address. Today’s announced proposal is a proactive step for Connecticut as we continue to work on this issue in Washington.”
