(CBS Connecticut) -- New London police have identified the man killed when he fell into the hopper of the trash compactor at the city’s transfer station –  and arrested a woman they say broke into his home shortly after his death.

59-year-old Floyd Smeeten of New London was pronounced dead shortly after 3:00 P.M.

About four hours later, having identified Smeeten, police went to his home on Borodell Place.  Arriving officers say they found a woman leaving the home with a bag full of items from inside.  They charged 24-year-old Danielle Sullivan with burglary and possession of burglary tools, tampering with evidence, larceny and attempted assault on a police officer.  Police say she was also charged with possession of a hallucinogen,  after they found suspected PCP in her possession.
