Second Victim Of Hartford Fire Dies Of Her Injuries

A fire early Tuesday has claimed a second life.  43-year-old Susan Therrien,  who had been in critical condition in the Burn Unit of Bridgeport Hospital, died overnight.  The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner will determine the cause of her death.

She was the mother of  four-year-old Shantay Drake, who died of smoke inhalation in the fire.  Another child, and residents of the upper-floor apartments made it out of the three-family home on Bedford Street.

Firefighters had to cut security bars over the first floor windows to get into the apartment.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A candlelight vigil is planned near the Milner School playground at 6:00 tonight.
