Broken Water Main Causes I-95 Backup

A broken water main is causing a backup on I-95 Southbound in Norwalk this afternoon.

State Department of Transportation spokesperson Kevin Nursick says water is running across all of the lanes.

“The contractor working on the Norwalk speed change lane project between exit 14 and exit 15 struck a water main,” Nursick said. “That water main is really pouring out a substantial amount of water at this point, and it is running down an embankment and onto I-95 Southbound.”

Traffic was shifted into the left two lanes.

Once the water flow is stopped, the D-O-T will continue applying salt to prevent ice from forming.
