Fire at Enfield Square Target ‘Suspicious’

ENFIELD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ The state fire marshal was called to the scene of a small fire inside a Target store adjacent to Enfield Square that happened around 7 p.m. Monday and forced the evacuation of the entire mall.

The cause of the fire isn’t known, but is being investigated as a suspicious fire, according to officials. The fire was small in nature, taking no more than an hour to extinguish, but caused smoke damage to the entire store.

An accelerant-sniffing dog was called in to aid in the investigation.

Officials on scene say some stores may not be able to open Tuesday.
