NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) _ A man accused of running over a police officer with a stolen car has been returned to Connecticut after being arrested in northern Vermont.

Nineteen-year-old Jaheem Snype waived extradition back to Connecticut during a court appearance Thursday in Newport, Vt. He’s expected to be arraigned Friday in New Britain Superior Court in Connecticut on attempted murder and assault charges.

Police say Snype struck New Britain, Conn., police officer Brett Morgan with a stolen car Sunday night and dragged him nearly 100 feet. Morgan is recovering at a hospital after hours of surgery.

Snype and his half-brother, 23-year-old Frankie Gonzalez, were arrested Wednesday night in Barton, Vt. Gonzalez is accused of helping hide Snype and also was returned to Connecticut.

Both men are detained. It’s not clear if they have lawyers.
