One Arrested After Traffic Stop In Which Shots Were Fired
HARTFORD (CBS Connecticut) — Hartford Police have arrested a driver after an early-morning incident in which a Hartford policeman fired three shots at the man’s vehicle. No one was hurt.
Police say one officer stopped a driver on Mahl Avenue at about 2:30 a.m., after seeing the vehicle speeding and driving erratically in the snow. The driver stopped only momentarily, then began backing up toward the officer before continuing forward.
Then, police say a second officer, identified as Sean Perez, encountered the vehicle and, fearing for his own safety, fired three shots which hit the front end of the car. The driver stopped. He’s identified as 32-year-old Sadiki Blake of Hartford, charged with reckless driving, disobeying the sgnal of an officer and criminal attempt to commit assault. Bond was set at half a million dollars. Police say he has 21 previous Hartford arrests.
