50 Years Later, Have Things Changed?
Should God be in the huddle in a University of Connecticut football program ? A lot of debate surrounding the assistant football coach’s comments to a local newspaper have been made.
But take a look at his entire comments before you pass judgment, I looked at the entire article and found a caring coach who truly wants to help these young men become better people, more spiritual and embrace personal responsibility. So, what’s wrong with that? Separation of “church ” and “sports “? Ironically it doesn’t seem to be a problem yesterday as we honor the great leader Martin Luther King , a preacher, minister who invoked the word of God everyday in his desire to defeat racism , the greatest civil rights leader of our time.
As yesterday schools and businesses are closed across the country in honor of Dr. King, isn’t that crossing “church and state “ ? I wonder what Martin Luther King would have to say about the criticism and judgment against a UCONN football coach trying to improve the lives of his players, by invoking the word of God.
Is this political correctness 50 years later?
