Gunfire Prompts Lockdown At Torrington Schools

TORRINGTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ Torrington Police have found a woman who they said fired shots into the wall of a house on Berry Street during a domestic dispute with her ex-husband, then fled.

Laura Perez-Shaw, 49, of Torrington, used a handgun, but police say she left the weapon behind.

She spoke about harming herself.

Police say students were sheltering in place at several nearby schools as a precaution during the search.

Investigators say there was no indication that the woman was headed to any of the schools.

The incident was reported when the former husband walked into the lobby of the police department.

She’s charged with criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny and credit-card theft.
