(Milford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) - Police in Milford are investigating a Tuesday morning bank robbery.

They received a call just after 8:30 to the Milford Bank branch at 205 Bridgeport Avenue in the city’s Devon section.

Officers say the suspect entered the bank with a paper bag indicating there was a bomb inside.

The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is a white male.  He was wearing an AT&T hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, a red flannel shirt, and dark pants.

He stands about six feet tall and has a medium build.

The suspect left behind the bag that purportedly contained the bomb, fleeing toward Lenox Avenue possibly to a waiting vehicle.

A section of Route 1 was shut down as a precaution.

The State Police bomb squad was called to the scene and later determined there was no threat.

Anyone with any information is asked to give Milford police a call at (203) 877-1465.
