GROTON, Conn. (AP) - The president of Electric Boat is holding a meeting with officials from southeastern Connecticut to discuss key issues facing the defense contractor.

The Groton-based company designs and builds submarines for the U.S. Navy and is one of the region’s biggest employers.

President Jeffrey Geiger is to discuss legislative issues and the company’s business outlook at the gathering with local officials Tuesday at a hotel in Groton.

Electric Boat, a division of General Dynamics, employs about 12,000 people in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Geiger plans a meeting with Rhode Island officials Tuesday afternoon.

Geiger came to the company last year from Bath Iron Works in Maine, another division of General Dynamics, where he had been president for four years.
