(Storrs, Conn./CBS Connecticut)  –  UConn forward Breanna Stewart has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The league made the announcement Monday.

Stewart, a 6-4 sophomore from Syracuse, averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.5 blocks as the top-ranked Huskies won both games last week.

She had a 24-point, nine-rebound performance in a win over Houston Tuesday.

Stewart followed that up with a 12-point, three-assist, four-steal effort in Saturday’s win over Temple.

Stewart leads the team in scoring, averaging 18 points per game.

She’s also second in rebounding a 7.8 per tilt.

UConn visits seventh-ranked Baylor tonight in Waco.
