NY Speeding Crackdown Results In Quick Spate Of Tickets On I-84

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. (AP) _ New York State Police say they issued more than 100 tickets during a three-hour crackdown on speeding motorists on a stretch of Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley.

Troopers conducted the speed enforcement operation Sunday on I-84 in the Dutchess County town of East Fishkill, 60 miles north of New York City.

Police say 79 drivers were ticketed for breaking the highway’s 65-mph speed limit. Troopers also issued another 31 tickets for other traffic infractions such as failure to wear a seat belt, driver use of a hand-held cellphone or other electronic device, and violation of the state’s “move-over” law.

I-84 spans Orange, Dutchess and Putnam counties between the Pennsylvania and Connecticut borders.
