Wallingford Police Make Arrest In 2012 Vehicle Fire

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Wednesday, Wallingford Police arrested Harvey Johnson, 41, of New Haven, for second-degree arson and first-degree accessory to arson 1st for setting fire to a vacant vehicle in 2012.

On May 30, 2012, Wallingford Police were dispatched to the area of South Turnpike Road for the report of a motor vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied and the flames were extinguished by the Wallingford Fire Department.

The vehicle was identified as a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban was completely destroyed by the fire. After an extensive investigation conducted by a Wallingford Police Department Detective, probable cause was established to believe the fire was set intentionally by multiple suspects.

Johnson’s held on a $100,000 bond and was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court Thursday.

Further arrests are pending.
