Extra Police At Enfield School After Odd Internet Posting

ENFIELD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) — Enfield police stepped up their presence at the town’s middle school Thursday after an unusal posting on the Facebook page run by the school’s parent organization.

Chief Carl Sferrazza says a parent who spotted it called authorities.  Chief Carl Sferrazza he chief says says the posting showed a rifle scope, with an accompanying comment along the lines of “Isn’t it a beauty?”

The chief says while the comment was not especially threatening,  it prompted concern .  Police opened an investigation, and, as a precaution,  assigned extra officers to the John F. Kennedy Middle School,  in addition to the School Resource Officer and School Security Officer already assigned there,

The chief  says there was no direct threat, but police are investigating,  and assigned additional officers as a precaution.
