Sprinkler Pipe Bursts, Leak At UConn Health Center

FARMINGTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Shortly before 11:15 Saturday morning, a leak was discovered near a stairwell on the main floor of the main building at the UConn Health Center in Farmington. Members of hospital management believe the leak was coming from a cracked sprinkler pipe along an exterior wall that burst from freezing conditions.

Water leaked into some portions of the main and ground floors of John Dempsey Hospital, but most of the affected areas were unoccupied.

Hospital staff moved some patients from the Labor & Delivery section and the newborn nursery to different rooms as a precaution.
