BRISTOL (CBS Connecticut) — Police in Bristol have released additional details about the death of an uncle of Aaron Hernandez last summer.  They say 49-year-old Robert Valentine, who was riding a motor scooter on the morning of August 3, suffered a critical head injury after his vehicle hit a curb on Central Street at Church Avenue.

He was not wearing a helmet.  Police say Valentine was riding the scooter under the influence of alcohol and drugs,  lost control and hit his head on the curb.
He was wearing sunglasses at 1:03 a.m..

A toxicology report revealed Valentine’s blood alcohol count to be .19, more than twice the legal limit.  Police say he also had cocaine in his system.

Valentine was the brother of Hernandez’s mother.  The former Patriot tight end is facing murder charges in Massachusetts.
