One Dead In Crash Involving DOT Truck

One person was killed today, in a crash involving a state Department of Transportation vehicle, and a Jeep.

The collision took place just before 11 am in Torrington, at the exit 44 off ramp on Route 8 Northbound.

State Police Lieutenant Paul Vance says it appears the DOT truck was parked, when it was hit by the Jeep Liberty driven by 22 year old Christopher Watts  of Litchfield..

“Troopers and EMS personnel responded, and came upon a car versus DOT bucket truck accident,” Vance said.

Watts  was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.

The crash is still under investigation.
