Governor Directs Early Dismissal At State Agencies

As the state prepares for more snow and frigid temperatures,  Governor Malloy ordered state agency heads to release state workers early to help manage the afternoon commute.  The governor will brief the state on storm preparations from the State Armory at 5:00 p.m.  WTIC News Plans to carry his remarks live.

The state was coordinating employee-release plans with other large employers in the Hartford area,  in hopes of easing the commute for all drivers.  The governor suggested other companies might want to consider their dismissal times, “so thyat we are not bogged down during the usual evening rush,  right when the snow is forecasted to pick up. “

The Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is also reaching out with municipal leaders on the importance of finding shelters for at-risk residents,  The state was coordinating transportation to get those in need of shelter to the sites.

At 3:00 p.m., the following departments and agencies will dispiss
Economic and Community Development
Department of Education
Department of Social Services
Mental Health and Addiction Services
Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities
Office of Policy and Management
Department of Correction
Department of Housing

That will be followed by 3:15 dismissal at these departments and agencies:
Department of Children and Families
Department of Agriculture
Department of Revenue Services
Department of Consumer Protection
Department of Energy and Environmental Protection
Department of Labor
Department of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities
Department on Aging

All other agencies will dismiss at 3:30.
