HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel Malloy is urging residents to stay off the roads during the worst of the winter storm that is expected to hit the state over the next two days.
Malloy says he also is asking motorists to give themselves extra time during the Thursday and Friday commutes.
The state is expecting up to a foot of snow in some spots, beginning late Thursday night.
Malloy says he’s also directed the state’s Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security; the Department of Social Services and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to coordinate with Connecticut’s network of shelters to ensure the homeless have shelter during the storm, when wind chills are expected to be well below zero.
