NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A former doctor charged with killing a Yale University physician says he wants to hire forensic expert Henry Lee as an expert for his defense.
The New Haven Register reports that New Haven Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Clifford told Lishan Wang on Monday that the state Supreme Court will have to issue a favorable ruling for Wang, who is indigent, to pay for Lee’s services.
The 47-year-old Wang is charged with murder in the death of Dr. Vajinder Toor in April 2010. He also is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at Toor’s wife. She escaped injury.
Wang has insisted on representing himself, using special public defender, S. Max Simmons to argue the state Supreme Court issue and a public defender as an adviser.
