Man Who Shot Woman In Wallingford Kills Himself

Wallingford, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) A man who police say is responsible for shooting a women in Wallingford around 1:30 a.m. Sunday later shot and killed himself.

Wallingford police were called to a home at 43 Heritage Woods around 1:37 a.m. and found Leanna Burger-Mestel, 54, with a gunshot wound to the torso. She’s in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital

Police suspected a man dating her was responsible for the shooting and went to his Hamden home on First Street to set up a perimeter. They later her a gunshot from inside and found the man dead upon entering. His name has not yet been released.

Police say the man fired a number of other shots at another person inside the woman’s home, all of which missed.
