New Haven Home Invasion

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Police say a man who broke into a New Haven apartment bound and blindfolded a 10-year-old girl who was there alone and fled with a computer and more than $1,000.

Police believe the intruder broke into the home around 10 a.m. Friday. The girl told police she heard noises coming from the living room and soon was confronted by a man who blindfolded her and bound her hands.

The man took the money and computer and fled. Police say the girl freed herself and told a neighbor what had happened. The girl’s father arrived home around 1 p.m., but police say he didn’t call authorities until nearly 5 p.m.

Police are investigating. Officials with the state Department of Children and Families are assisting.

A description of the suspect was unavailable.
