A woman is in critical condition after an accident on Simsbury Road (Route 185) around 2:15 p.m. Thursday in Bloomfield.
A Honda CRV driven by Ermelinda Outeiro, 49, of West Hartford, slid sideways and veered into oncoming traffic, striking a Dodge Caravan.
Outeiro was ejected from her vehicle and sustained head injuries as well as spinal injuries and bone fractures, listed in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital.
The driver of the van was not injured, but two passengers were. Doris Ross, 90, and Nancy Poller, 59, both of Springfield, Mass., are expected to be OK. Ross was held overnight at St. Francis as a precautionary measure, Poller was treated and released.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Outeiro was traveling too fast for conditions.
