School Bus-Train Accident Averted In Norwalk

No one was injured when a Norwalk school bus got stuck on the Metro-North Railroad tracks on Broad Street at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday.

The bus malfunctioned as it pulled across the tracks and then was stuck as a train approached. All 40 students from Silvermine Elementary School got off safely, as did the bus driver.

The train was able to stop without colliding with the bus. Two students received medical attention for minor injuries at Norwalk Hospital.

The scene was eventually cleared, the bus removed, the train continued on.
