Conn. Student Back In Court On Weapons Charges

A college student is due back in court after authorities say he was arrested this month carrying two handguns on the University of New Haven campus and had an assault rifle and bullets in his car.

William Dong, a 22-year-old suspended University of New Haven student, is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Milford Superior Court on charges including illegal possession of an assault weapon.

Police say they found 2,700 rounds of ammunition and newspaper clippings of the Colorado theater shooting at his home.

A judge earlier ordered a mental health evaluation and kept his bail at $500,0.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the Dec. 3 scare at the West Haven campus, which was locked down for more than four hours.

Dong’s attorney declined to comment.
