The Doc Hurley Basketball Classic, a fixture in Hartford for nearly four decades, won’t happen this year.
Those who run the foundation missed a deadline to provide proof of insurance and to pay down at least a portion of $21,000 in past-due bills.
The deadline came and went at four p.m. yesterday.
In a statement, the Hartford Public School system says they’ll not be able to host the tourney as a result.
The Classic has been a fundraiser for scholarships for area college students.
it was to have taken place from the December 19th through the 21st at Weaver High School.
