Man Shot And Killed By Farmington Police

A domestic disturbance in Farmington between a father and his adult son ended with the 43-year-old son shot and killed by police.

The victim is identified as Gregory Bendas, of 3 Butternut Dr., which is where the shooting took place.

Officers were called about 10:45 p.m. Thursday to the Butternut Drive home. They say when they got there the son confronted them in the street with a gun. An officer shot him and he died at the scene. 

The father has not been identified and it’s not clear why he was at his son’s home.

State Police have taken over the investigation. The officer involved in the shooting, not yet identified, has been assigned to administrative duty as is protocol.
