Ellsbury Thanks Red Sox Fans

Boston Red Sox center-fielder, departing next season for  the New York Yankees, bought a full-page ad in Friday’s Boston Globe.

Ellsbury was a member of the World Series champion Red Sox in 2007 and 2011. He led the American League in stolen bases in 2008, 2009 and 2013 and was a Gold Glove winner in 2011.

After becoming a free agent at the end of the season,  he signed a seven-year,  153 million dollar contract with the New York Yankees.

The ad is addressed to “Red Sox Nation,” and signed, “Jacoby.” In it he thanks the fans, his teammates, and the friends and memories he made in his seven years with the Red Sox. It also includes a photo of Ellsbury hoisting the World Series trophy.
