No injuries were reported when a house in Bridgeport went up in flames this afternoon.

The fire broke out after one p.m. in a three-story home on Capitol Avenue.

The assistant fire chief says they encountered smoke and heavy fire on arrival.

In fact, they say flames shot about 25 feet into the air.

All inside were able to escape.

Investigators say the home had been renovated at some point and that caused them to check for hotspots in certain areas.

Eight people were displaced, including two children.  They’re being assisted by the Red Cross.
