Authorities made an arrest in Thompson after a woman riding inside a car driven by the suspect sent a text message to the Human Trafficking Hotline asking for help.
The victim told police the car she was in, a black Kia SUV, was traveling northbound on Interstate 395 in the Putnam area.
Connecticut State Police and Massachusetts State Police were dispatched to the northeastern corner of the state around 8:30pm Friday to locate the vehicle.
Authorities pulled over and arrested Kwamaine Wells, 24, of Brockton, MA in Thompson. He faces charges including Illegal Posession of Narcotics, Disorderly Conduct, and Kidnapping.
The victim told police she was abducted in New York and was headed to Rhode Island to be sold for sex. Her name has not been released.
Police say Wells has a prior criminal record including arrests for Carrying a Firearm and Trafficking for Sexual Servitude.
Wells was held on $100,000 bond and is due in court on Monday.
