Norwalk Police used DNA testing to identify a suspect in a cold case dating back 25 years.

Officers apprehended Osvaldo Muniz, 66, while in Bridgeport on Friday.

Muniz is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old victim at 129 Wolfpit Avenue in Norwalk in 1988.

Police say a composite sketch was released to the public after the crime, but no suspect was identified.

This year, investigators then turned to DNA testing and matched Muniz’s DNA to the 1988 crime scene.

Muniz is charged with Kidnapping and Aggravated Sexual Assault. His bond was set at $500,000 dollars, and is due in Norwalk Superior Court on December 16th.
