Man Charged With Stealing Salvation Army Kettle Donations

In Vernon, police say they’ve arrested man on charges he stole Salvation Army collection kettle donations at a local supermarket.

Officers say they were called to the store after 28-year-old Brandon Martin allegedly stole $9.34  worth of food from the Windsorville Road Stop & Shop.

He was apprehended by the manager and the kettle confiscated.

Police say he then conned another employee into returning the bucket to him, after which time he fled.

When police caught up with martin a short time later, they found the kettle and $16.

Officers think Martin was pocketing the cash as patrons left the store, handing cash to him, instead of putting it directly into the locked bucket.

He’s now facing larceny charges.
