Hartford Water Main Break May Impact Evening Rush

A water main break on Main Street at Pearl in downtown Hartford could affect the evening commute.

The water break was discovered by firefighters when an alarm was activated in the Gold Building around 3 a.m.   The Metropolitan District says additional excavation and further water main shutdowns may be required to repair the break.

Main Street has been closed between Pearl and Gold Street and drivers are advised to avoid the area until further notice.   Water was pumped out of the basement at the Gold Building which houses several businesses include a bank and a restaurant.
