Sam Chelanga of Kenya is the winner of the 2013 Manchester Road race, with an unofficial winning time of 21:31, twelve seconds off the course record.
WTIC’s Scott Gray reports from the course that 28-year-old Chelanga took the lead at the Highland Park Hill, and from there, it was a race against the clock. It was the first Manchester appearance for Cheleanga now runs out of Andover, Massachusetts.
Last year’s winner, Aaron Braun, came in second, with an unofficial time of 21:39, eight seconds behind the leader.
Tyler Pennel placed third, and Glastonbury’s Donn Cabral came in fourth.
Alice Kimutai of New York was named the women’s winner after race officials sorted out some confusion over registration.
Amby Burfoot, running in the race for the 51st time, was honorary race chairman.s.
