What Will We Learn?
Release the total Newtown report at 3:00 today. It’s been almost a year now and by all news reports , much of the Newtown report will be redacted , meaning details will be blacked out by the state authorities. First of all no one really wants to know all the grisly details of this horrific day , but on the other hand no one wants to spend the next year reliving theories about what may or may not have happened leading up to those fateful moments, including conspiracy theories, etc. So, why won’t authorities just give out a total, un-redacted report? We all know what happened, who was responsible and the final outcome. Will the redacted portions avoid further pain for the families or will it create questions of the first responders response ? For me I don’t want to relive all the horrific details, but I would like some insight into Adam Lanza , where there signs of his illness, could he have been helped and what lessons can we in society learn about mental illness. News reports indicate that the state authorities did not examine these issues, which would be too bad , especially after a year working on the report. I think most people want to learn from this tragedy not blame. The common thread across the country with mass murders is mental illness, and over all these years what have we learned and how have we changed ? Not much I’m afraid.
