A UConn student has been charged with threatening to kill the president of the United States.

Coventry resident Josh Klimas was arrested at his home.

Federal prosecutors say in June, he sent a message to the White House web site that included the statement “If you do not resign by the end of the year I will kill you!”

Klimas is also accused of making threats against other people.

A federal magistrate ordered him sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

Klimas has been involved in UConn’S student chapter of the Americna Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The Secret Service, Coventry Police, and UConn Police took part in the investigation.
