UTC Backs UConn Engineering
STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ United Technologies Corp. is contributing $7.5 million over five years to launch a partnership with the University of Connecticut School of Engineering.
The aerospace and building systems manufacturer and UConn announced on Tuesday the start of the UTC Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering at the university. It sets a goal for an additional $2.5 million from the Hartford conglomerate to finance research related to the company’s advanced systems engineering work.
The financing will seek to recruit and support faculty and outstanding students. The institute also intends to strengthen UConn’s work in science and engineering, specifically advanced systems engineering.
In April, UConn and jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of United Technologies, announced a collaboration on a digital engineering lab.
