NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) _ The Department of Transportation is briefing the public on the progress of the bus-only corridor being built between Hartford and New Britain.

An open house meeting is scheduled for Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Central Connecticut State University. Members of the public will have an opportunity to learn more about the construction and service plan progress of the busway, known as CTfastrak. The bus rapid transit system is scheduled to begin operations in early 2015.

Another open house is planned Nov. 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Elmwood Community Center in West Hartford.

The CTfastrak project includes 11 transit stations in New Britain, Newington, West Hartford and Hartford, with buses running every three-to-six minutes during peak commuting hours.
