Electric Boat has informed 115 workers that they’re being laid off effective January 10 next year.
The word came down this morning.
The company says the employees are shipfitters, painters, and outside machinists with the Metal Trades Council.
EB Human Resources Vice President Robert Nardone says the affected employees work in “trades where the projected workload cannot support the existing workforce.”
The workers are receiving a 60-day notification period before their jobs end.
During that time, company officials say they’ll have access to career transitioning services at the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board in New London and Norwich.
