DANBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A professor at Western Connecticut State University has been arrested in New York state on accusations he had sexual contact with a boy he met online.

Paul Hines of Danbury was held without bail at the Westchester County, N.Y., jail on Tuesday after New York state police said he had sexual contact with a Somers, N.Y., boy.

Police say the 73-year-old Hines was arrested Monday and charged with a criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a minor.
It was not known Wednesday morning if he’s represented by a lawyer and a phone listed in his name was not answered.

Police say Hines met the boy, who is younger than 17, on the Internet and the sexual contact was at the boy’s home.

The university says Hines has worked at the school since 1968.
