NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ The owner of the New Haven nightclub where a fatal shooting took place is voluntarily closing the facility and a nearby strip club.
Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein called the decision “very constructive,” giving his agency time to work with the owner to ensure state liquor laws are followed, patrons are kept safe and the neighborhood is not adversely affected. Rubenstein said “there’s a lot of work to be done” and could not say when or if both facilities would reopen.

Police say 26-year-old Erica Robinson of West Haven died and one person was critically injured after gunfire rang out inside Key Club Cabaret Saturday. Four others were injured.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy pledged to work with New Haven Mayor John DeStefano to pass legislation addressing nightclub violence.
