PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Phone service at the customer call center for Rhode Island’s new health insurance marketplace has been restored after being down for several hours.
HealthSource RI spokeswoman Dara Chadwick says service went out sometime early Tuesday morning. The phone lines normally open at 8 a.m. They were restored at around 3 p.m.
The agency cited a “Verizon service issue.”
Chadwick says the online chat function was also affected but that the website, healthsourceri.com, was still operating. She said people could call and leave a message, send in a contact form or visit the center in Providence in person.
HealthSource reported this week that the marketplace signed up 2,652 individuals and small businesses in its first three weeks.
The rollout of the federal health care web portal has been plagued by technical glitches.
