Hartford Police have filed charges against the driver of a landscaping truck, in a crash that severely injured a 76-year-old man on a scooter.

The man on the scooter suffered life-threatening injuries in this morning’s crash.

Lieutenant Brian Foley says the accident took place at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Arnold Street.

“The scooter appeared to have the right of way, and as a result the operator of the pickup truck has been charged with failue to obey a stop sign, failure to renew his registration, and operating a motor vehicle without a license,” Foley said.

The landscaping truck driver gave his name as Edwin Quijada-Rivera, but police say he is not a US citizen, and they are working to confirm his identity.
