Police Investigating Call Of Attempted Child Abduction

Police in Wolcott are investigating a call of an attempted child abduction on Saturday.

Just before 6pm, police received the call from a parent on Woodtick Road reporting that a man got out of a blue minivan, held out his hand, and from the roadway, asked their 8-year-old son if he wanted candy.

The boy and a 10-year-old nephew of caller were playing in the front yard at the time.

Authorities describe the man as white, in his mid-30s, 6-feet tall, thinly built, but with a large stomach. He has short brown hair, a beard, and a tattoo on his right wrist. He was last seen wearing a white long sleeve t-shirt and green camouflage shorts. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Woodtick Road, toward Waterbury.

Police believe the man acted alone. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wolcott police.
