A physician at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford is a recipient of a Daily Point of Light.
Dr. Michael Bourque was honored for his leadership role on the “Blue Team”, a medical missionary team that provides medical services for those in need.
Bourque is today’s Point of Light honoree and the 5,065th person to be so honored since former President George H.W. Bush founded the program in 1989.
Since the devestating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Bourque’s team has made trips to the village of Dame Marie.
The volunteers have been bringing in supplies to help set up a field hospital.
In addition, missions have included surgical and medical teams, pediatrics, obstetrics, and primary care.
