Kee Borges Out As Interim Hartford COO, Will Stay On As Corp. Counsel

Two weeks after her city vehicle was involved in an accident,  Hartford’s Corporation Counsel has been relieved of her duties as acting Chief Operating Officer.  Saundra Kee Borges and her fiance, Deputy Fire Chief Terry Waller were in her city-owned SUV early in the morning of Sept. 28 when the Ford Explorer being driven by Waller was hit by another vehicle.

Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra wrote members of the City Council and Hartford city department heads this afternoon,  letting them know that Albert Ilg will be assuming responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer until a permanent COO can be named.  Kee Borges will continue as Corporation Counsel.

Ilg is former Hartford City Manager before the city transitioned to a strong mayor form of government.  Before that,  he was the long-time Windsor town manager
He recently had been special assistant to Borges on a part-time schedule.

In his memo on the transition, Segarra said the city is actively recruiting for a permanent Chief Operating Officer.  Applications are being taken through Nov. 3.
