SOUTH KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) _ The University of Rhode Island is planning to celebrate the opening an $11 million fitness center that boasts a “spa-like” environment.
The Providence Journal reports that the school plans to open the Anna Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness Center for students on Tuesday.
The 33,202-square-foot center received a $1 million donation from Michael Fascitelli, a 1978 graduate, and his wife. He’s the former chief executive of Vornado Realty Trust, a New York commercial real estate firm.
Bank of America provided a $1 million gift.
The center is named for Fascitelli’s late mother, Anna.
