Man Accused of Beating 2 Women Arraigned

A man arrested Monday  after  brief standoff with New Britain Police  over the  was arraigned Tuesday .

According to police,  57 year old Robert Cane  of New Britain  and a woman returned to his Slater Road home  and  Cane accused  her of stealing from him.Police say  Cane kicked, punched,and pistol whipped the woman causing serious injuries,Cane is also accused  the victims friend of stealing from him and  police say he  would not allow her to leave and  assaulted her with a bat, choked and pistol whipped her, causing bruises  to her body and physically assaulted the women for  2  days.

Evidence at the scene  supported the statements  given by the victims.

Cane had been charged with  Breach of Peace,Interfering with an Officer and Threatening.Before he left court  ,officers served an arrest warrant charging  Cane with 2   counts of Kidnapping with a Firearm in the  1st Degree,Assault in the 2nd Degree with a Firearm and  Assault in the 3rd degree.

Cane is being held  at the New Britain Police Department on a half million dollars  bond.
